Community Honors Fallen Soldier
Elected officials and residents pay homage to former Menlo-Atherton student Derek Simonetta.
Hundreds of residents came to the Saturday morning to honor the life of Cpl. Derek Simonetta, 21, a former Menlo-Atherton student who died in December 2010 serving his country while in Kandahar, Afghanistan.
Thanks to the community fundraising efforts, an engraved bench was installed in his honor.
