Tree Caught in Power Line Causes Power Outages

A tree caught in power lines in Woodside caused power outages all over the County Wednesday night.

Thousands of PG&E customers lost power Wednesday night in three separate outages in Contra Costa and San Mateo counties, a utility spokeswoman said.

A tree caught in a power line in Woodside caused power outages in San Mateo County Wednesday night. That outage impacted 54 customers. At last report, their power was expected to be restored by midnight, Morris said.

The largest outage occurred in Walnut Creek, with about 2,450 customers without power at around 9 p.m. That number was down to 47 customers as of 9:50 p.m., spokeswoman Janna Morris said. The cause of the outage was not immediately known.

In Lafayette, downed wires caused 557 customers to lose power shortly after 7 p.m. All but 99 customers had their power restored by late Wednesday night, Morris said.

An estimated time for restoration for the remaining customers was not immediately available.
