Southbound Lanes on 101 Will Close

Reroutes due to construction begin Thursday morning.

Construction work on a pedestrian bridge over U.S. Highway 101 in Belmont will require southbound lanes to be closed for several hours early Thursday morning.

The closure had been scheduled for early this morning but was postponed because of the rainy weather.

The work is related to the Ralston Avenue Bicycle/Pedestrian Bridge Project. Southbound Highway 101 will be closed from 1 a.m. to 4:30 a.m. Thursday, according to Belmont public works engineer Gilbert Yau.

Motorists will be detoured off the highway at Hillsdale Boulevard, and directed onto southbound El Camino Real.

Drivers will be able to get back on the highway at Ralston Avenue.

The bridge is on track to be completed in mid-September, Yau said.
