Pilot Makes Emergency Landing

Plane on highway 280 in West Redwood City.

The California Highway Patrol reported that a small plane made an unexpected landing on highway 280 Sunday night in West Redwood City.

At about 7 p.m., the plane descended, ultimately landing on the highway south of Edgewood Road for unknown reasons.  No injuries have been reported, according to CHP.  The plane is currently on the side of the freeway, but is not blocking traffic.

Twitter user @newtman took a photo of the plane and uploaded it to Yfrog, which you will find attached to this article.

@neisner was also on the road when it happened, and tweeted, “That was weird…At least it isn't blocking traffic.”

Patch will share more information as soon as it is obtained from CalFire.

The type of plane looks like a Cesna 172.

Sure looks like it, with that high wing. Thanks, Chris!

This is definitely a Cessna 210 Centurion.

The pilot did what he was trained to do and that is why no one got hurt.
