Update: Mother, Daughter Hospitalized After Train Accident

Caltrain hit the car their were in.

Editor's Note: Though Bay City News originally reported that the daughter was driving the car, Patch has since spoken with a witness of the accident who said, in fact, the daughter is a teenager and the mother was driving. Caltrain has confirmed this.

A mother and daughter were transported to a hospital Friday evening after their , a Caltrain spokeswoman said.

Just after 5 p.m., the 1996 Saab that was traveling west on Ravenswood Avenue was hit by southbound train No. 264, according to Caltrain spokeswoman Christine Dunn.

There were vehicles in front of and behind the Saab, which did not allow enough space in front of the Saab to clear the intersection, Dunn said.

The train struck the back of the car. The daughter was transported to Stanford Hospital with minor injuries. Her mom was also taken to the hospital as a precaution, she said. The train was not damaged and none of the passengers reported injuries.
