Microsoft Employees Donate Bikes to InnVision Shelter Network in Menlo Park
Microsoft Silicon Valley employees built and donated 39 bikes to InnVision Shelter Network in Menlo Park, as part of the company's annual Giving Campaign.
On Thursday, November 8, more than a half-dozen Microsoft employees joined the staff of InnVision Shelter Network to distribute bicycles and helmets to youth residents of the Haven House in Menlo Park.
39 bikes in total were built and donated by Microsoft employees, as part of the company’s annual Giving Campaign.
“This was an opportunity for employees to connect with the children who will benefit directly from their donation,” said Joseph Beare, manager of communications for Microsoft Silicon Valley’s corporate citizenship group. “A first-hand look at the impact of giving projects like the bike build inspires people to keep giving, and to continue actively participating in the community.”

InnVision Shelter Network’s service methodology, “Beyond the Bed” provides a comprehensive network of housing and services to enable homeless families and individuals to return to permanent housing and self-sufficiency. InnVision Shelter Network helps restore clients’ confidence, and instills self-discipline and personal responsibility, and thus discourages dependence on entitlement programs. Hard work and commitment are required from the homeless men, women, and children served. In return, InnVision Shelter Network provides safe, clean, and modern shelter, as well as nutritious food, counseling services, childcare and after-school activities, job and housing search assistance, and additional supportive services
“The bikes that the children received brought cheer and excitement to their lives,” said program director Ashley Hartoch. “InnVision Shelter Network is so grateful for Microsoft's generous partnership and we look forward to many more years of engagement.”
