VA Opens New Welcome Center in Menlo Park
The new space will be the starting point for training service dogs and rehabilitating American military veterans.
The Menlo Park Campus of the Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System opened a new welcome center Thursday, marking the event with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
The 10,000 square foot building will be an iconic landmark for the campus, as well as a starting point for veterans who are recovering from fighting in wars for the United States.
The center will be a place where veternas and their families can take educational classes, make art, and reflect in a garden designed for healing. It will also be a place where service dogs can be trained.
"The Welcome Center is a donated facility from California Real Estate Developer and Philanthropist John Arrillaga," said Jonathan Friedman, Public Affairs Officer for the VAPAHCS.
