Stanford Hospital Project Begins

Project managers say car drivers should take alternate routes.

Construction activity related to has begun and is expected to displace drivers.

Project managers announced Friday that work on the water main on will be taking place from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m from today through the 9th.

Welch will be a one-lane, one-way road from Quarry to Pasteur Drive going west for the next two years

North Pasteur Drive will be a two-way, two lane road hence forth, although it should be noted that North Pasteur Drive will be closed between Sand Hill Road and Blake Wilbur Drive.

Project managers recommended the following driving routes to avoid congestion:

“During 2 pm-6 pm, when the dog leg is open, we recommend the following routes to increase traffic flow on Welch and Pasteur: northbound should use Oak; southbound should use Pasteur. Dynamic message boards will be used at these intersections to help inform recommended .”

Project managers warn drivers and cyclists to be cautious of construction trucks entering the road, and say access to the Stanfod Hospital Emergency Room will not be compromised.

Construction will continue from 6 p.m.-7 a.m. on Welch Road during the week, so water pipes can be shut down without impacting hospital utilities.
