PG&E Venting Gas in Menlo Park, Stanford, and Palo Alto

Pacific Gas & Electric will be venting natural gas on Friday in Menlo Park, Stanford, and Palo Alto.

The passing of the gas begins at 6 a.m. and will happen throughout the day in short bursts, according to PG&E. The gas may be pungent and be detectable shortly after strange noises, PG&E officials warned.

The locations where crews plan to release the gas are:

-Sand Hill Road and Branner Drive
-Junipero Serra Blvd, north of Santa Maria
-Foothill Expressway, South of Page Mill Road
-Miranda Avenue and Loop Road

Crews are releasing these gasses to facilitate the installation of enhanced pipelines. If they did not, the pressure in the pipes could lead to dangerous conditions for the workers. You can read more about the projects in Patch's previous coverage
