Mike's Camera Replaces Ritz in Menlo Park

The photography equipment store on Santa Cruz Avenue remained afloat.

The Ritz Camera Store on Santa Cruz Avenue in Menlo Park was expected to close at the end of October, according to store staff.

When the parent company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in July, it put the future of about 800 Ritz-branded stores into question.

The store in Menlo Park will remain in business, with a new brand name.

Mike's Camera, which is based in Denver, Colorado, bought the store and rebranded it. The new customer experience is very similar to the old one.

The photo industry needs people that are passionate about photography, the Ritz Camera company was owned at the end by people that were about profit and lost sight of, or maybe never cared about, the business the passion. We that worked in the stores had the passion but not the support. Mike's Camera, the new owners that have opened their own stores in some of the old Ritz Camera locations is owned by two guys that not are not only passionate about their business but also about their employees. It is this support and energy that leads to an employee on the floor that is energetic and supportive, THAT is what was missing with Ritz and Wolf. Come into a Mike's and you'll feel the difference and yes it's nice having all the product we've been missing but attitude will make or brake a business and Mike's, from the owners down have the right attitude.
