The Menlo Park Chamber of Commerce announced Thursday that it is cancelling the August 15 block party.
Brian Flegel, Chamber of Commerce officer, said the reason was that not enough people were able to participate in the event.
“It appears that Menlo Park is 'on vacation' in mid-August, and that puts us in a difficult situation,” Flegel said in an email to Chamber of Commerce members.
Businesses that pledged to donate money to the event will not be charged, according to the chamber's payment processor.
