Caltrain To Work on Tracks in Menlo Park

Caltrain will be working on the train tracks in Menlo Park starting Monday, resurfacing the area.

The reason for this is that the ballast under the tracks and between the ties becomes uneven after being run over many times. The ballast is the crushed stone material that is placed along side and under the tracks.

The weight of the train compresses this over time, which results in a bumpy riding experience for passengers, say Caltrain officials.

Caltrain crews will be making adjustments on July 1st and 2nd between the hours of midnight at 6 a.m.  There will be some noise associated with the work.
