A Good Excuse to go Shopping Downtown

Shop 'till you drop, work out to fight leukemia, or go out with dad. Here are the top five things to do in Menlo Park today.

1. Menlo Park Shopping Night

Downtown Menlo Park is where it will all be happening tonight for the 10th annual Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's Spring Fling. Participating stores such as Alys Grace, Head over Heels, Calla Kicks and Pink Tangerine will be donating ten percent of their sales to the Spring Fling to support the Bay Area chapter Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in their endeavor to find a cure for type 1 diabetes.  The Menlo Park Shopping Night is the precursor to the eXtreme Spring Fling that will be held on April 1 in Half Moon Bay. You know we've been talking a lot about moms, but let's not forget about Dads. That's exactly what the is planning for next Thursday's Dad & Me night.  It will be a night for Dad to get out with the children and take them to see the presentation by Puppet Art Theater Company called Riley the Wiley Rabbit.  This event is tailored for dads and their kids, but all are welcome.   The program is being sponsored by and will be held in the, which is located at 800 Alma Street. 3. Train with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training
 The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training invites you to a free training session today. This is a chance to learn about what Team in Training does and to work out with the trainers.  Meet with fellow participants and coaches and see how Team In Training’s powerful force has changed their lives. Today's session is at 7:45 a.m. at Burgess Pool at 501 Laurel Street. If you can't make it today, there will be more of them. 4. About Great Companies

Nope, it's not being great company, but about being a great company.  Pattie Lee-Hoffman will discuss and sign her book "In Great Company," which is about successful businesses. She'll talk about what she learned during the creation of this book, and her strategies for thriving in any economic situation.  In Great Company lays out a framework and a wealth of practical advice that will help you develop your own great company, including ways to measure the results of your initiatives. 5. An Art Talk at Little House

It's time for the first Thursday art lecture at . Today, the lecture is with Beth Mostovoy, creator of Honeybear Prints Photography who will provide an up-close and personal look at her work. Mostovoy dabbled in photography for years before she started Honeybear Prints in 1999. Since then, she has traveled the world taking pictures and she'll share some of those today. Her talk begins at 2 p.m. in the Auditorium. Admission is $5 for members; $7 for non-members.
