Rohnert Park New Highway 101 Lanes to Open in Two Weeks

A blog in the Santa Rosa Press Democrat says the lanes will finally open after three years of construction.

Rohnert Park residents will get to a enjoy a wider stretch of Highway 101 in a few weeks after years of construction.

According to a blog on the Santa Rosa Press Democrat's website, Caltrans said it has scheduled to open the new carpool lanes from Santa Rosa Avenue to the Rohnert Park Expressway with the southbound lane to open on Aug. 29 and the northbound lane on Aug. 30.

What do you think about the lanes finally opening? Will it relieve congestion? Tell us what you think!

Wonderful, now if we could just give the drivers lessons on driving politely, like they do in Hawaii and Canada.

Its just too bad they made the 3rd lanes commuter lanes. It doesn't help relieve enough traffic so we continue to have slow downs during rush hours when we could have relief. I thought that was the whole point in adding a third lane. Seems a bit short sited. If there were 4 lanes on either side, then I could understand a commute lane, but doing that with 3 lanes doesn't make sense to me.
