Music, Nature, Poker and More this Weekend

A concert, a Texas Hold'em fundraiser and free yogurt are just a few of the things to choose from in the Menlo Park mix this weekend.

1. Free Yogurt is the Best Yogurt
It's been a year since The Mix: A Frozen Yogurt Treatery, first opened. Now, it's time to celebrate--a year of being here, a year of doing business in Menlo Park and a year of serving you. So, The Mix is holding a one-year anniversary celebration with free yogurt, music, toppings tastings, prizes and face painting. 2.  Good-bye Salt Ponds, Hello Hotel California

The South Bay Salt Pond Restoration Project introduces a special hike this Sunday, Feb. 13 entitled, "Goodbye Salt Ponds, Hello Hotel California." Docent Jane Moss will lead a group on a one-mile hike through the fascinating changes taking place at the former salt pond, Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge. Learn about the surprising ways this area is being reshaped as a wildlife habitat. The trail is easy, and all ages and levels of walkers are welcome. The walk is at 2 p.m. and is free. Hikers will leave from Pond SF2 of the Ravenwoods Unit. Reservations are required, so please call  for more information or to sign up for your spot at 408-262-5513, ext. 106, today.

3.  Allied Arts Third Annual Texas Hold 'Em Poker Tournament

It's not often gambling can be called "a good cause," but this time it's true. It's time again for Allied Arts' Third Annual Texas Hold 'Em Poker Tournament, benefiting the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford. Men & women (over age 21) of all skill levels are welcome to join.  The initial buy-in is $75.00. The party begins at 5 p.m. and goes until 9 p.m. in the Allied Arts Guild Sunset Room at 75 Arbor Road, at Cambridge Avenue.  Call the Allied Arts Guild offices at 650.322.2405 for more information.

4.  Birds of Bedwell Bayfront Park

Get into nature this weekend with a special event at . This Saturday, Feb. 12, 9-11 a.m., participants can view and learn about wintering birds of Bedwell Bayfront Park, such as ducks, geese and egrets. Experienced birders will also be available to show close-up views of different birds of water and land. Bring binoculars, or you can look through a provided scope. Families are welcome, so meet along the entrance road for this free excursion. Heavy rain will cancel this event. 5.  A Heartfelt Celebration of Song

 Margaret Sullivan Durando will be the featured soloist along with members of the Schola Seraphica choral group in A Heartfelt Celebration of Song this Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Church of the Nativity, 210 Oak Grove Ave.  The group will perform a selection of their favorite pieces. Proceeds of the concert will go to help local high school seniors pay for their 2011 tour to Italy. Tickets are $20 for the general public, and $15 for seniors and students.

6.  Have a Healthy Heart for Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is coming up so all the more reason to keep your heart healthy. Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy is offering you a chance to find out how your heart is doing for free.
