Orphaned Elephants of Tsavo

On display until September 30th, the Portola Art Gallery at the Allied Arts Guild is proud to present "Orphaned Elephants of Tsavo," a collection of oil paintings by Marsha Heimbecker. Heimbecker's series is inspired by the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, a refuge for the protection and preservation of Africa's wilderness, particularly for endangered species such as elephants. "I am in awe of such a refuge, a place for the sick, the wounded, the abandoned," said Heimbecker. "Thank you to those who have given elephants a new life - to play in rain puddles and roll in mud baths." Marsha Heimbecker is an award winning Bay Area artist who paints expressively in oil. Her strong use of color and bold brushwork reveal her passion for painting. Heimbecker's inspiration often comes from storytelling, a pastime she most enjoys. Her paintings can be found in private collections around the country, as well as online at www.marshaheimbecker.com. For more information please visit the Allied Arts Guild website.
