The Liveable Willows

One of Menlo Park's oldest neighborhoods is still a great place to be.

Once called North Palo Alto, the area bounded by Willow Road, Highway 101, San Francisquito Creek and Middlefield Road is now known as the Willows.  It is an area of short, curved roads mixed with wide streets and cul-de-sacs with a few  roundabouts and traffic-calming speed bumps.

The neighborhood architecture is a mix of Craftsman, bungalow, Spanish and the occasional total remodel.  Residents take pride in the appearance of their homes, keeping their lawns mowed, trees trimmed and flowers blooming. Plenty of large, mature trees provide shade and privacy.

There are some areas of business and shopping on Willow Road and Menalto Avenue, but primarily, the neighborhood is made up of single-family homes.  The average home price is around $859,000.

Willow Oaks Park, a 2.63-acre area located at Willow Road and Coleman Avenue, has lighted tennis courts, children’s play areas and a dog park, all within a short walking distance for many residents.

Residents are civically active and organized around community issues such as traffic, crime and environmental concerns, and are tolerant of the mildly eccentric.
