House Hunt: Highly Desirable Central Menlo Park
Neighborhood offers gracious living on quiet tree lined streets.
Bounded by San Francisquito Creek, Cloud Ave., Valparaiso Ave., and Arbor Dr., Central Menlo Park is one of the city’s most desirable neighborhoods. This neighborhood has had a history of elegant and gracious homes dating back to WWII. Built on one-quarter and one-half acre plots, the mix of architectural styles includes, california ranch, craftsman, post modern, Spanish influenced and a few Eichler’s.
Well maintained landscapes include rows of Primroses and Cyclamens to keep flower beds colorful through the winter. Year round wreaths on entrace doors are common, as is the use of black as an accent color on exterior areas.
Far enough away from the trains and freeways, the neighborhood enjoys peace and quiet from continous noise. Leaf blowers and home construction noise are the only interruptions. The mix of Oak, Redwood, Bay Laurel and other trees provides plenty of shade and location for a kid’s tree house. High scoring schools and short commutes attract and keep young families in the neighborhood. The lack of steep hills makes for an easy bike ride to most downtown destinations.
