Goats Return To Menlo

The environmental alternative has become very popular.

Goats are returning to Menlo Park.  And they're hungry.

The City of Menlo Park announced this week it will once again utilize the practice of using goats to help in its annual fire prevention program.

Goats offer the city a non-toxic alternative to the often noisy, polluting mechanical equipment used for cutting down and removing tall weeds and grass.

The company who owns the goats will begin setting up at Sharon Hills Park beginning next week.

While in Menlo Park, full-time care of the the goat herd will be handled by on-site shepherds, herding dogs and a low voltage electric fence.

The goats are expected to graze at Sharon Hills Park for about two weeks.

The city invites you to watch the goat's progress, but asks that you follow posted rules, and keep dogs(s) leashed and in control.
