Earthquake Strikes Near Alum Rock

U.S.G.S. in Menlo Park says it was a 2.1

is reporting an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 2.1 struck this evening in Santa Clara County.

The quake shook an area near Alum Rock at 7:19 p.m. and had a depth of 4.2 miles, according to the . Its epicenter was roughly five miles northeast of Alum Rock, which is just east of San Jose.

On Saturday, a 3.3-magnitude earthquake struck near Morgan Hill at 3:39 a.m. and was centered 13 miles southeast of Alum Rock, according to the
USGS.
