Work to upgrade a drainage system on state Highway 82 in San Mateo County is scheduled to begin Monday, according to the California Department of Transportation.
Two existing drainage inlets will be replaced with eight new inlets on the southbound direction of Highway 82 at mile marker 13.7 at the Oak Grove and Floribunda avenues in Burlingame, Caltrans officials said. The new drainage system will connect into an existing culvert, and will help avoid any future flooding, Caltrans officials said.
Weather permitting, the work is expected to take 30 days, in which the slow lane of the southbound side of Highway 82 will be closed around 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday, according to Caltrans. Drivers using the road during those hours should expect minor delays from the lane closure and are asked to use alternate routes if possible, according to Caltrans.
