Drive Less Challenge Winners Announced

Menlo Park residents walked away with bragging rights for finding alternative methods of transportation.

Menlo Park residents raked in the Drive Less Challenge Awards on Saturday night at Kepler's Books.

Ten Silicon Valley communities participated in the , which is an annual event designed to inspire people to reduce the time they spend in their vehicles.

Starting on Earth Day, people from Menlo Park, Sunnyvale, Palo Alto, Los Altos, Mountain View, Redwood City, Morgan Hill, Burlingame, Cupertino and San Carlos got out of their cars, and into the habit of jotting down how many "green" trips they took.

For each mile they got from point A to point B without using a car, they jotted down the miles as "saved" miles, which made them "green," according to the Drive Less Challenge website. The contest ended on May 5.
