Caltrain To Conduct Emergency Drill

Local public safety agencies will be participating.

Caltrain will conduct an emergency preparedness drill on Saturday, an agency spokeswoman said.

The training exercise will be conducted between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on an unused portion of track near Costco at Middlefield and Woodside roads, Caltrain spokeswoman Jayme Ackemann said.

The drill allows the transit agency to train with local public safety agencies in responding to a major rail emergency, Ackemann said.

Nearby residents and businesses will be able to see a locomotive with passenger cars, as well as police and fire personnel and vehicles with lights and sirens.

A San Mateo County Transit District bus will also be used in the drill.

There will be no anticipated disruption to traffic or train service.
