Neighbors Celebrate Completion of Woodland Avenue Sidewalk Project

Menlo Park residents celebrate smooth sidewalks for young skaters.

Dana Shields, Menlo Park resident, celebrated the completion of the Woodland Avenue Sidewalk Project Friday afternoon with an outdoors potluck.

Shields and Bob Hubbell began working with the city of Menlo Park to improve their neighborhood more than three years ago. The children who lived there were riding their bikes and walking in the street, as the area did not have a sidewalk.

After a lot of paperwork, they got one installed.

Here's Shields and the gang giving the new sidewalk a thumbs up.

Where on Woddland Avenue is the new sidewalk? Does it have a rolled curb or a vertical curb?

The project is filling long gaps in the existing vertical curb sidewalk between Menalto Ave. and Euclid Ave. No sidewalk on the creek side, just in front of the houses. There will be some significant loss of parking spaces.

So the sidewalk isn't built yet?
