ATHERTON teenager Nishant Relan is now a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Kuk Sool Won™ after successfully completing three years of testing.
The 14-year-old, a student at Menlo-Atherton High School, has been practicing the martial art since the age of 6. He has become a strong leader and roll model at his dojang, Kuk Sool Won™ of Menlo Park, where he is also an instructor.
His parents are very proud, and Mom had this to say, “I am very delighted that he has had a consistent activity throughout his life, and that he’s had the persistence to stick with it. I attribute the joy that he has found, and that our whole family has found, with Kuk Sool to the community that Kris & Rich Quintana have created. We also love the confidence and leadership that he has developed through their mentorship.”
Four other Kuk Sool Won™ of Menlo Park students were promoted to their First Degree of Black Belt – Shawn Le (age 13), Nathan Walker (age 17), Peter Hoo (age 14) and Timmy Hoo (age 11).
When asked how he felt about getting his Black Belt, Shawn Le said, “I’m very proud of how far I have come and that I didn’t stop.” He also gave this advice to up and coming students, “testing can be hard, and you often have outside struggles, but it’s worth it to continue and get your Black Belt!”For more on the academy call 650-787-2226 or go to www.menloparkmartialarts.com.
